2 weeks old

The puppies are now 2 weeks old.  They are all over 1 kg in weight - in fact the girls are more than 1.3 kg.  Everyone's eyes have opened, they are starting to hear, they are just starting to walk and now that they can see their mum and each other, they are just starting to play.

In a very rare occurrence, Tuuli and puppies had a brief visit from Tuuli's surrogate family, Jane and Mark.  Usually no one is allowed to visit the puppies until they move downstairs at 4 weeks old.  I'm concerned about germs but also about unsettling mum.  However, I knew that Tuuli would love to show off her puppies to them, and it was so sweet how pleased she was to see them.  I was the only one who touched the puppies, of course, but Tuuli was very proud to show them off to her visitors.

It's notoriously difficult to get good photos of the puppies, especially at this age.  But Mark is famous in Lappy circles for his terrific dog photography.  Needless to say he didn't disappoint when he visited.  I have assured Mark that he would be welcome to visit even without his camera.  And it's absolutely true.  However, I didn't complain when he brought his camera with him.  Obviously.

So, for the puppies' 2-week portraits, there are our attempts taken on the actual 2-week mark followed by one of Mark's from a couple of days previously, with his superior camera, lens, patience, eye and talent.  Thanks Mark!  And please feel free to drop by next week too...
